Chili Con Carne-ation
Ingredients
½ kilo lean ground beef
2 large carrots (peeled and diced)
1-2 sticks celery (washed and chopped)
1 white onion (chopped)
1 small can sliced button mushrooms
½ cup Carnation Evap
4 tomatoes (seeded and chopped)
3 tbsp tomato puree
½ cup red wine vinegar
1 small can kidney beans (optional)
2-3 cloves garlic (crushed)
1 bar chocolate (plain; grated)
1 tsp cumin
2-3 tsp chilli flakes (adjust to taste)
Vegetable or olive oil
Salt
Pepper
Parmesan cheese to serve
Fresh basil for garnish
Procedures:
1. In a large non stick skillet, heat oil and sauté onions. Carrots and celery until veggies soften
2. Add mushrooms. Cook for another minute.
3. Add ground beef and cook until it browns. Season with salt and pepper.
4. Add milk and put the heat on high until milk is absorbed by the meat.
5. Add tomatoes, puree, garlic and red wine vinegar. Bring to a simmer.
6. Add cumin, chilli places and chocolate, stir well until chocolate melts and well absorved. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes.
7. Add beans if desired, cook for another 5 minutes
8. Serve with parmesan cheese and garnish with basil leaves
You may use it as a topping for toasted bread, mashed or baked potatoes and even plain rice.
